Location and Venue

The Club operates from room 7 at Shrewsbury House Community Centre, Bushmoor Crescent, Shooters Hill, Plumstead, London SE18 3EG.

Our venue is in a large old historic grade II listed mansion house, set in a quiet private estate on top of Shooters Hill. The Salle in which we fence has a wooden floor which we use as a piste, and we have a full armoury containing both beginners basic safety equipment and the latest specification electric fencing equipment available for use by our members.

Parking

There are a number of free spaces in the Shrewsbury House car park, as well as outside the premises on Bushmoor Crescent, which is a quiet road set in the estate.

Train Stations

There are three railway stations serving Woolwich.

  1. Woolwich Elizabeth Line giving access to and from central London, via East London, Essex and Abbey Wood.
  2. Woolwich Arsenal DLR giving access to and from East London, Lewisham and Greenwich.
  3. Woolwich Arsenal National Rail giving access to and from central London, London Bridge and Kent.

Buses

There are three bus routes running  close to the Club.

  1. 244. From Central Woolwich/Shooters Hill, take the bus from stop J, Woolwich Arsenal Station, outside the new Woolwich Waves sports centre or any Shooters Hill stop, and get off at the Eaglesfield Road (south) stop and walk to the Club. From from Woolwich Common/Shooters Hill, take the bus from any Shooters Hill stop, and get off at the Eaglesfield Road (north) stop and walk to the Club.
  2. 486. From Bexleyheath/Welling, take the bus from Bexleyheath/Welling or any Shooters Hill stop, and get off at stop SM, Memorial Hospital, cross the road to stop SE, Memorial Hospital, and take the 244 to the Eaglesfield Road (north) stop and walk to the Club. From Greenwich/Charlton, take the bus from Greenwich/Charlton or any Shooters Hill stop, and get off at stop SE, Memorial Hospital, and take the 244 to the Eaglesfield Road (north) stop and walk to the Club.
  3. 89. From Bexleyheath/Welling, take the bus from Bexleyheath/Welling or any Shooters Hill stop, and get off at stop SM, Memorial Hospital, cross the road to stop SE, Memorial Hospital, and take the 244 to the Eaglesfield Road (north) stop and walk to the Club. From Lewisham/Blackheath/Charlton, take the bus from Lewisham/Blackheath/Charlton or any Shooters Hill stop and get off at stop SE, Memorial Hospital, and take the 244 to the Eaglesfield Road (north) stop and walk to the Club.
