Our Term Time Beginners Fencing Courses

Both Junior and Adult beginners fencing courses are run over ten weeks, (one term). Our small Adult beginners classes allow much more 121 time with the coach than larger classes. At the start of the course beginners are kitted out with the basic fencing safety equipment. However all students are required to wear a short sleeved crew neck T-shirt, track suit bottoms with zipped, or sewn pockets and trainers. At the start of each session students undertake a short warm up. Beginners are taught to fence with one of the three fencing weapons,  (Sabre, Foil or Epee). The course will comprise how to advance and retire on the piste, make explosive and accelerating lunges, simple and compound attacks, and varieties of defence. They learn the conventions of fencing in a competition, how to preside over, judge and run a fencing bout and pool. Later they are provided with electric fencing equipment to take part in  fencing bouts. For further information email mailto:info@royalgreenwichfencingclub.org.uk .

Our School Half Term and Holiday Courses

Royal Greenwich now runs children’s holiday fencing courses and taster sessions during the half term and summer holidays. The courses and taster sessions are aimed at beginners and are for those aged 7 to 16.

The holiday fencing course runs for two hours a day and lasts for five days, (Monday to Friday). It consists of a total of ten hours instruction over the week and contains the same content as the term time junior beginners course. At the end, when they are ready to fence they will be given all the corresponding electric equipment. The students will finally take part in fencing matches using electric fencing equipment and scoring apparatus.

The holiday fencing taster sessions run for four hours on a single day and provide an introduction to fencing, where the student can try out the basics. You can enquire about our next  course or taster session, or book, or find out about payment options by emailing the above email address. Please note that attendance of the club is by prior arrangement only so course places must be booked in advance.

The availability of sessions is dependent on take up and details may vary.

As the Club operates a waiting list for courses, prospective members are asked to email us at mailto:info@royalgreenwichfencingclub.org.uk prior to their attendance, so that we can ensure that we have places available for them.

Please be aware that attendance at the Club is by prior arrangement only.
